After some seriously dark times for Coventry City shirts, Hummel have brought them back to being among the best-dressed teams in the game right now.
Which ones stand out from the rest, though? We’ve compiled the world’s least-definitive list of the top five.

This one may well surprise a few people, but for us, this is the perfect way to bring back a classic design. The iconic ‘tramlines’ design – best known for the infamous brown shirt – has been seamlessly integrated into a kit that includes a beautiful cathedral-inspired motif that is used on all the playing shirts for the campaign.

It also had a pretty good team to match its design, with the likes of Gustavo Hamer and Viktor Gyokeres leading the Sky Blues to Wembley, where they lost to Luton Town on penalties.
That game still hurts, by the way.
The shirt that inspired it is currently available on the Coventry City store.

This one was a lovely shirt in its own right – a modern twist on the 1988-ish template that was then brought to Denmark, Southampton and Real Betis, to name a few.
However, the fact that the side won League One in it, and the fact that it came after over a decade of dross from Puma and Nike, elevates it to another level.

This is a stunner, and was a one-off worn against Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup third round, 25 years after beating them in the 1987 FA Cup final.
It’s a clean, almost-exact replica of the shirt worn on that famous day, and a limited run of 1,987 shirts made it a collectors item as well.

Unfortunately, the side went down 3-0 at White Hart Lane thanks to a brace from Clint Dempsey and an extra from a little-know winger by the name of Gareth Bale. Also unfortunate was the fact that the match-worn shirt had the City Link sponsor poorly integrated over the top.
Coventry City 2019-20 third

Undoubtedly a modern-day classic, this two-tone shirt in Hummel”s first year with the club is a fantastic shout-out to Coventry band The Specials.
If you’re a Cov fan, it’s impossible to see this shirt without thinking back to some spectacular strikes from Matty Godden and cult-hero Maxime Biamou.
It’s so simple, but so good: it is, for us, the best the club have had.
Extra shout out, though, to them merging the tramlines and the two-tone designs to make a gorgeous third shirt in 2022-23, however.
